Academic Administration:
In case of academic administration, the highest policy making body is the Board of Governors of DIU. There is an Academic Council which is the main policy and programming body for academic affairs of the university. The Academic Council’s decisions are reported and rectified by the Board of Governors. Educational programs at DIU are conducted by the qualified and experienced faculty members coming from home and overseas. The teachers are selected fairly and wisely from submitted applications. They play a dominant and vital role to promote the academic speed and standard of the university.
The students are required to prepare daily work assignment, to participate in class discussions, to make presentations and to sit for periodical quizzes and tests. Arrangements are also made to hold seminars by executives or academicians on the subjects of current and research interests.
Medium of Instruction & Academic Methods:
Both Bengali and English are the medium of communication in the professional field. But academic books, journals, instructions, manuals, etc. available in Bangladesh are mostly in English. Faculty members are mostly with wide teaching experiences in different countries using English as the medium of instruction. The international faculty also teaches in English. So both English and Bengali are the medium of instruction at DIU. DIU programs emphasize the task-based and participatory methods of instruction and use modern teaching aids. It invites the professionals from the different fields of interest as guest speakers to familiarize the students with advancement and trends in the fields of interest. Seminars on the current topics and research issues are regularly conducted. To ensure effective communication and learning, the methods of instruction are carefully chosen for a course from a wide range of lecture, discussion, case analysis, project work, terms paper, film show, role playing, seminars, supervised reading, organization visits and so on.
